A note from the founder

Overlooked was started because I had the desire to change the world and decided to act on it. That desire turned into an organization called Feed Just One. I chose the name from a Mother Teresa quote and partnered up with an organization called Feed My Starving Children to raise money to ship food to starving people around the world. With the help of my friends I have toured the country selling lots of shirts and exceeded my original goal.

With Overlooked I want to give you the opportunity to do the same. I have met thousands of people who want to change the world but don't know how. The problems we face daily are so daunting that it's easy to give in and think that it's impossible to make a difference. It's easy to think that we don't have enough money or time or that we aren't old enough or we're too old. Or maybe you just don't know about - or choose to overlook - all of the things that go on in the world around you.

I want you to know that you can make a difference.

No matter what your circumstances you can change someone's life. You may not ever impact thousands of lives and that's okay. You don't have to fix the entire problem to successfully change the world. Mother Teresa said, "If you can't feed a hundred people, then Feed Just One." That can be applied to anything. The number of people that you help isn't as important as the fact that you are willing to get out there and help.

My goal for Overlooked is to expose you to the problems in the world around you and offer you simple ways to make a difference. I want to introduce you to different issues and the organizations that address them. We sell t-shirts and other merchandise that address different issues. When you purchase one of the shirts you are participating in informing others of the issue as well as actively supporting organizations that are making a difference. In addition to the shirts we will give you information on how to dig deeper into the issue if you choose. Maybe you will find one that you are especially passionate about and want to get more involved.

The truth is that there are overlooked people all around us. The truth is that we are all overlooked. We all have needs and we need each other to make us whole. One of the needs we all have is a sense of purpose. While you are helping others to have their basic needs such as food and water you are giving them love and you are giving yourself purpose.
